New Porsche 911: So, What Else has Stuttgart in Store for us?

Less than a month ago, Porsche unveiled one of the world’s worst kept secrets: the brand-new, 911 in Carrera and Carrera S versions. As usual, the coupe versions are just the beginning. Porsche may be criticized for carefully simply updating its classic model’s looks with each generation, instead of presenting something different, but apparently that’s what its customers want.

Even its most vehement detractors, however, cannot deny that the Weissach carmaker gradually rolls out many versions of the 911, which cover every niche of its segment –and then some… So read on to see how Porsche’s 48-year old sports car will evolve in the near future.

Nissan GT-R Takes on the Bugatti Veyron and the Porsche 911 Turbo S in Straight Line Duel

Not to leave Motor Trend's recent speed challenge unanswered, rivaling car magazine Road and Track brought the 2012 Nissan GT-R on the race track to see if it qualifies to enter the so-called "Two Second Club" which refers to vehicles that are able to break the 0-60mph (96km/h) sprint in under 3 seconds.

As pointed out by the magazine, few standard production cars can manage this feat - even the Corvette ZR1 fails to do so with a sprint time of 3.5 seconds, while the exotic Ferrari 458 Italia comes close, but does not make the cut at 3.0 seconds flat.

There is a reason why rally fans should avoid standing at tight corners; if something goes wrong and the driver cannot control the car, you are in deep, deep trouble.

Unfortunately, we've seen these types of accidents occur again and again but stubbornly, no one seems to take precautionary measures.

The latest incident happened during the Subida a Escusa Rally 2011 that took place in Spain this past weekend when the driver of a Porsche Boxster either miscalculated or wasn't able to turn due to the slippery conditions of the road and headed straight to the fans.

2012 Porsche 911 Convertible: Clearest Spy Shots Yet

One of our wily spies has caught another snap of the next member to join Porsche's new 991 family of sports cars after the 911 Carrera and Carrera S, the 911 Convertible.

These are probably the best spy shots we've seen of the cloth top 911 as the only bits hidden from the eye are the front and rear lights that are covered with faux decals, an increasingly common practice when it comes to Porsche prototypes.

Volvo Says Dankeschön to Germans for Ranking the Brand First in Customer Satisfaction

We'll have to wait and see if and when an American carmaker will provide an appropriate answer to Audi's new A6 commercial, but meanwhile here's a fresh and rather witty TV spot from Volvo that thanks German drivers for making the Swedish company the number 1 brand for customer satisfaction in Germany.

Cleverly, the Swedes also say Dankeschön (thank you in German) to the country's car manufacturers such as Audi, BMW, Opel, Mercedes, Volkswagen and Porsche for their...participation, and all this under the beautiful sounds of Bert Kaempfert's famous tune, "Danke Schoen".

SPY SHOTS: Porsche Preparing Panamera for its First Facelift

The Porsche Panamera was introduced in 2009 as the Stuttgart-based brand's first attempt to break into the lucrative executive saloon segment (albeit with a rear hatch).

Even though many were quick to dismiss the design, sales proved otherwise with the German firm expecting to sell around 28,000 examples this year, far exceeding its initial target of 20,000 cars.

Now, Porsche has begun preparations for the Panamera's first facelift, which should arrive in the market within the next year or year-and-a-half.

Anderson Germany Overdoes the Porsche Panamera Turbo

In general, German tuners aren't known for their restraint in the visual department and Anderson Germany's latest take on the Porsche Panamera Turbo is no exception to the rule.

If you're looking for a subtle makeover, you may as well skip this post altogether because Anderson Germany has gone wild with its cosmetic proposal. The tuning firm starts by wrapping the Panamera sports saloon in a matte red vinyl cover.

IAA 2011: Eterniti Hemera Brings a Breath of Fresh Air to the Porsche Cayenne

Making its world premiere in close-to-production form is the Eterniti Hemera, which the newly formed London-based company refers to as the "world's first Super-SUV".

A close look at the Hemera reveals that the vehicle is more or less a heavily modified (or tuned, take your pick) Porsche Cayenne SUV, which itself is based on the VW Touareg.

Eterniti claims that all body panels on the Hemera are new and made of carbon composite materials, while the company added that is also working on bespoke LED headlamps and lenses that will make it on the final production model.

Blimey…Eterniti Motors Hemera Looks Like a Tuned Porsche Cayenne

After all the hype about a "new luxury car brand" that will hand-build "the world’s first Super-SUV", the self-proclaimed "independent, boutique British luxury carmaker, uniquely based in London", which we will come to know as Eterniti Motors, has lifted the covers off something that looks like/is a heavily tuned second-generation Porsche Cayenne ahead of its Frankfurt show debut.

While the British company does not specifically refer to the Porsche model, it has previously stated that the Hemera "is based on the latest generation of the best large SUV platform available, which will undergo a chassis-up rebuild, with a new, repackaged interior, carbon-composite body panels and additional performance".
